Goodwood Festival of Speed 2021 – Day Two Highlights
Bradley Jando | Saturday 10th July 2021 10:17am
Friday marked the second day of this years Goodwood Festival of Speed, and it was clear from the off that it was going to be a good day. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky as the sun beat down on the track, the perfect weather to see some serious speed!
Friday's Highlights
The Hill Climb
The morning saw drivers testing their skill in a variety of different vehicle classes, from NASCAR and Touring Cars to FIA, BRM and Grand Prix Greats. You could feel the excitement in the crowd rising as each F1 car raced by with a deafening roar, which only increased as the 1988 McLaren MP4/4 tore around the track – a car most famously driven by Ayrton Senna, and one that will be piloted by F1 superstars Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris later this weekend!
RAF Red Arrows
As midday approached attention turned from the road to the sky, as the RAF Red Arrows put on an epic air display. With countless twists and turns, the Red Arrows matched the energy and pure speed that we have grown accustomed to seeing on the track all morning, painting an impressive picture in the clear blue skies overhead.
Driftkhana
One of the highlights of the afternoon was once again the Driftkhana event. The unique event combines a mixture of sprinting and drifting, giving drivers a real opportunity to showcase their skills. After the warm-ups yesterday the drivers were really ready to show off their skills today as the smells and sound of burning rubber took centre stage. Check out the video below to get an idea of just how impressive the drifting performances were.
With the tyres smoking like that, I’m sure some of the drivers will be looking to pop into their local Kwik Fit centre for a fresh set!
Kwik Fit BTCC Stand
Following on from a busy Thursday, festival goers continued to flock to see Ash Sutton’s awesome Infiniti Q50. Being able to get up close and personal to see the car of the reigning Kwik Fit BTCC champion remains a big attraction to motorsport fans of all ages!
If you are attending the Festival of Speed this weekend be sure to swing by to see the car in all it’s glory. You can find the Kwik Fit BTCC stand on the corner just after the Electric Avenue display.
For those unable to attend that would like to keep up with the action – you can keep up to date with live streamed content on the Goodwood Website. Be sure to also check in on our website, as well as the Kwik Fit twitter, Instagram and Facebook for live updates of the weekends action!
